The Lindsay’s East districts cross country championships started off to a wondrous wet and windy day for the Falkirk Vics. The first race saw the under 13 girls Emily Christie, Corri McGougan, Josie Anderson, Ruth Donaldson, Hanna Brindley, and Aimee Calder shoot off from the starting line through a treacherous 3.2km to see a victorious win of 4thplace team medal with a special mention to Emily Christie who came 3rd overall with a time of 13:01!
Then the second race came about when the winds were beginning to grow stronger where our team of under 13 boys Ray Taylor, Hamish Hunter and Luke Sedman made it through the 3.2km course and a strong finish as our team came a whopping 2nd place and then another special mention to Ray Taylor who came second place overall with a time of 11:54.
Our under 15 girls then prepared themselves for the 4.2km oncoming storm to come as our team of Charlotte Horne, Lois Cant, Isabella Ogg, Katie Hedges, Holly holmes, Lucie Gibson, Carys Forgie and Eve Donaldson made it through the pelting rain to achieve a gold team medal for the Vics! As well as an honourable mention to Charlotte Horne who came 2nd overall in her race with a time of 17:19.
Afterwards when the course nearly became deadly the under 15 boys then set afoot for their 4.2km race consisting of just Luke Cullington who came an amazing 5th place for the clubwith a time of 15:31.
The rain hit even harder for the under 17 men who ran 5.8km in those conditions as the team consisted of Gregor Hunter and Jack Stokes who had some spectacular performances for their race in those conditions.
It then came round to the under 17 women’s team who had to deal with 5.8km in a torn-up course of mud and rain and as the team of Katie Christie, Caityln Christie and Erin Hendrypast the sodden finish line they achieved a 1st gold medal for the Falkirk Vics! This rounded up to be a glorious win for the young harriers on Saturday despite the hard and brutal conditions.
