This is a wee reminder that the closing date for these road relays is next Thursday, 6th March. The event is open to all athletes born on or before 31st August 2007. Thank you if you have already returned the form. If you haven’t and would like to compete in this event can you please fill in the availability form at the link below by Monday 3rd March to allow time for team managers to organise number of teams to be entered. It was a busy weekend of Masters running in Scotland, with the XC National Championship on Saturday and the 3000m indoors on Sunday.
Falkirk Vics had 6 Masters out running in the Scottish Athletics National Cross Country Masters Championships held in Dundee on Saturday. We took home a full set of 🥇 🥈 and 🥉from a hilly, traily, challenging course. Fiona Matheson was running in the 1st race of the day, over 6.4k and won gold in her age category, finishing in 27:34. Monica Anderson had a fine race as well. The 2nd race was over 8k and Grant Matheson won silver in his age group in 32:38, with Mike McQuaid taking bronze in 33:10. Strong showings also from Gary McKenna and Malcolm Findlayson.
24 hours later it was the Emirates for Fiona and Grant, and both returned with the same colour of medal as on Saturday. Up first race, Grant ran a 3000m track PB to win the 🥈 and Fiona, in a time that equated to 104% age grade took home 🥇.
News in from Leeds!
Phenomenal running from Harrison & Rory M who made up half the Scottish u17 team that finished in 2nd place at the Celtic Nations today in Leeds.
In the senior men’s Home Countries International race we witnessed seriously strong running as Scott Stirling finished 5th over all with his 🏴Scottish team (Logan Rees 1st, Jamie Crowe 7th & Aidan Thompson 7th ) also finishing 2nd, just 1 point behind England.
Well done to our 3 Falkirk runners and their strong Scottish team mates.
