SAIL – Emirates Arena

On Sunday 25th January we took 8 teams to the SA Indoor League at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

Before I go into how we got on, I think it’s really important to highlight just how smoothly the event went. Last year the league was cut short, and a whole new committee was started with the hopes of continuing the event, and what a success they made of it. Each of the 3 meetings ran perfectly on time, with a great atmosphere making it a seriously enjoyable event. Huge thanks and congratulations to the new committee.

From a team leader point of view I am beaming with pride after how our athletes competed & conducted themselves in such a huge arena, there have been mega PBs, club records, first times & lots of fun!

Our u12 age groups – full of new athletes competing for the first time, had 60m, 600m & Long Jump events. Girls team was made up of Anna-Leigh, Yasmin, Annabelle, Sophie, Holly, Tess, Emelia & Rowan finished 8th in the league. Boys team made up of Max, Kyle, Conal, Costa & Conor finished 7th in the league.

Our u14 groups competed in 60, 60h, 200, 800, LJ, HJ, SP were also peppered with new athletes competing for the first time, our u14 girls Erin, Arianna, Iris, Alexa, Clancy, Lily & Sophia finished 9th in their league.

We have come away with 5 out of 8 teams who have qualified for the league final on 22nd March. In order to qualify you must finish top 3 in the league, at the final the top 3 from the morning league will join the afternoon tops for an exciting & competitive event!

A massive well done to our finalists groups that were made up across the 3 matches of

A note from GCST on stadium payments & back payments.

I hope you are well.

As many of you will know, Grangemouth Community Sports Trust has been pleased to make Grangemouth Stadium available free of charge while they have been getting established. We are grateful for the positive relationship we have built with the Trust during this period.

To help ensure the long-term viability of the Trust’s ownership of the stadium, we are kindly asking members to consider setting up a small monthly donation as a gesture of thanks for this use. Even a modest contribution would make a meaningful difference, helping us build a sustainable mix of funding to support the facility and the community programmes they deliver.

GCST is a registered charity (OSCR Charity No. SC053935) dedicated to creating and sustaining accessible, high-quality sports and community facilities for Grangemouth and the surrounding area. Our vision is to promote active, inclusive participation in sport and recreation (across age groups and communities) and to support local clubs, youth development and community wellbeing. Running the stadium is a key part of that vision: your support helps us maintain the grounds, cover running costs, and continue offering the space at minimal or no cost to community clubs and organisations.

Due to the challenges with getting the Trust fully operational in 2025, it is estimated that over £20k of anticipated income has been lost due to having to give members free access to the facility for training until recently. To help ensure the long-term viability of the Trust’s ownership of the stadium, we are kindly asking members to consider making either a one-off or regular donation as a gesture of thanks for this use. Even a modest contribution would make a meaningful difference, helping us build a sustainable mix of funding to support the facility and the community programmes they deliver.

If you are able to contribute, donations can be set up quickly via the link below:
https://checkout.justgiving.com/4c6ldfe1m0 or via their website: https://www.grangemouthcommunitysportstrust.org/

Those not already signed up for the monthly membership can do so here at http://www.gcst.justGo.com by selecting the “Athletics Membership”. There is also a PAYG option.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It is greatly appreciated.

Best wishes
