At the end of last year we issued an email about the possibility of an after party following the Nationals XC at Callendar Park on 21/02/2026. The initial proposed venue fell through but we have managed to book the function room at Falkirk Tryst Golf Club, Larbert from 7pm onwards. Uptake has been good but we are looking for more athletes and parents to celebrate not just the end of the XC season but SAIL and the forthcoming outdoor T and F season. 🔥 SprintFastest will bring together 160 of the fastest young sprinters from every youth age group across Scotland!

This year is extra special because…

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Almost ten of our very own FVH athletes have been invited to compete!
These are kids who train hard week in, week out. Let’s pack the stands and give them the loudest, proudest support we can. Nothing beats hearing your club cheer you on as you explode out of the blocks.

But SprintFastest is so much more than a sprint event. It’s a full family day out.

The annual Edinburgh University Hare & Hounds Braids Hill XC Race is back! Taking place on Saturday 14th March 2026 over the scenic, rolling hills of Southern Edinburgh, with the stunning city skyline in the backdrop. The undulating course is very popular with local club runners, university students and alumni, as well as our peers at universities countrywide.

The race is followed by a prize-giving, and the festivities continue late into the night with our post-race ceilidh and after-party (ticketed separately – contact euhhsocsec@gmail.com)!

The course is sometimes wet and includes one steep downhill on each lap. Fell or studded racing shoes are recommended, but not spikes as much of the course runs over a gravel bridle path. A map of the course is available on the Hare and Hounds website page below: http://haries.eusu.ed.ac.uk

All competitors have the option to enter either the 5k or the 10k race.

Please make sure to select the correct link for the distance you wish to run as we will be unable to allow last-minute changes if the races are over capacity!
