Spikes re-cycling at Falkirk Victoria Harriers

One of our fantastic parent helpers has come up with the great idea of starting a swap-shop for Spikes that may be too small for your children but are still in great condition that could be passed to our younger Athletes.

If you have any pairs you wish to hand in or you are looking for a particular size that you might need please email enquiries or hand them in to Holly Anderson who is normally at the Stadium on a Thursday in the Café’.

Grangemouth Stadium Future under threat – Please support us !

You may all be be aware from the recent Falkirk Council website article, the future of Grangemouth Sports Stadium may be under threat with the council facing a budget gap of £67m over the next four years. Grangemouth Sports Stadium is listed as one of the 133 Council-owned building that will be available for community asset transfer. Our understanding of the situation is that if Falkirk Council cannot transfer these 133 buildings to the community, then they will close.

There has been no consultation with scottishathletics on this process, and they absolutely share the concerns of the full athletics community on the national and local significance of Grangemouth Sports Stadium as a competition and club training venue.

Scottish Athletics have reached out directly to Falkirk Council and sportscotland to better understand the situation and the process. They will update us when Falkirk Council respond.

In the meantime, we would encourage you all to participate in the ‘Strategic Property Review’ survey (accessible in the link above) or link below.

Press Officer for the Club

We are currently in urgent need of a Press Officer for the Club. We have had much success over the years and have had the full support of our local papers in printing articles about the Club, their activities and fantastic results however unfortunate to say we lost our Press Officer as they had to step down from the role in the past year or so and we have never managed to replace them.

We appreciate we have had very little exposure in the local press lately as we don’t have anyone allocated to that role. In the past this had worked very successfully with our previous Press Officers liaising with such Papers directly.

Please reach out if you think that you can be that person to help us with fulfilling this position. We did have plenty of volunteers coming forward recently however this specific Role was not one that anyone had shown an interest in doing.

Please email enquire@falkirkvics.com if you can help
